Project #3 COMPLETE!

I finished my heart banners. I made 2 of them, one to go above my kitchen sink and the other to go above the window in our dining room. I had enough felt hearts to make a third banner but didn't want Chris to feel like the house had exploded. So instead, I made these cute little stuffed conversation hearts for my dining room table basket. The girls are in love with them and play with them all the time. So fun! I loved it most because I did all of them while watching tv after the girls were in bed or I brought all my stuff out to the park and sat in a chair while the girls played outside! I love projects like that! I'm not completely done filling the basket- I'd like to add 3 or 4 more. Even out the colors. They are a little addicting!

My projects are getting checked off! So exciting!

I never could get a great picture of the banner- my house has AWFUL natural light...bummer.

And in case your interested: I used felt for both projects. A cookie cutter to trace the hearts, embroidery floss for the lettering, and toilet paper to stuff in between each heart. I was too lazy to go buy batting and well, I already had the toilet paper! ;)

Project #1 COMPLETE!

With the exception of a few minor details....

Regardless, the girls were so excited that Christopher got their bunk beds put together that they begged to sleep together Saturday night. They were so excited about it that they were in bed at 6:50pm! That is definitely a record for me! Especially on a Saturday night!

Elodie loved being so high up and Addysen couldn't stop repeating "My Daddy made us a bunk bed!"

Addysen only got up twice in the first 30 minutes, slept the whole night, and got up around 7:30am on Sunday morning. Which is her normal time.

Both girls also napped Sunday afternoon! AWESOME!

The only things left to do is make a ladder so Elodie can get up and down. As it is, once she is up in her bed she is stuck until someone comes and helps her down. A little bit more painting and touch up and Chris needs to make a siderail for Elodie's bunk so she doesn't fall out. Right now we are just using the one we bought when Elodie got her bed. It works for now but I'm afraid Addysen is going to fall out of her bed. It isn't nearly the fall Elodie would have so for now we just put pillows on the floor for Addysen.

And matching comforter sets is a must! I guess I can add that to my project list now! I'm not sure whether I will buy sets or purchase fabric. All depends on what I find.

I was really worried the girls would never fall asleep because of all the chit-chat but one threat of Addysen going back in her "night,night" and they both quieted down!

We are off to a good start!

Christopher did an awesome job and I'm really impressed with his work! Especially considering he had limited work space and tools, and he was going off something he thought up in his head! My next little project for him is a picnic table for the girls!

Here are a few pictures I snapped right before bed on Saturday night. I'll be sure to take more pictures once the bed is completely done and we get the bed sets together. So fun!

Projects...

We've got a few projects in the works around our house that I am really excited about. I figure it's good to have something to stress me out in the last 60 days (!?!?) of this pregnancy to keep my mind off said pregnancy. But considering the fact that I can't breathe every second of everyday and have to go to the bathroom every other second, I'm pretty sure that will be hard to do! We will try though!

Project #1 (and top of the priority list): After much debate, we've decided to add on to Elodie's bed to make bunkbeds for the girls. Originally, I wanted to just buy bunk beds and keep the girls in separate rooms. Elodie would stay in her bed and Addysen would sleep on the lower half of the new bunk beds. Then when littlest sister was old enough, she and Addysen would share a room. Christopher had different ideas. Since Elodie's bed looks like the lower half of the bunk beds we like (and comes with 2 mattresses since it's a pullout) , he thought it would be cheaper to just add on to her bed. Especially since it will be 3 years (atleast) before littlest sister needs a big girl bed. And by then, a lot can change. It wouldn't change Elodie's bed when later on we switch it up. It's a little hard to explain but I'm confident he can do it without making it look (how do I put this nicely) cheap and thrown together. He spent the better half of his Saturday purchasing wood and putting things together. He is enjoying himself and I know he is a perfectionist enough to make it look really nice. Much to his dismay, I documented the occasion. Because my girls need to know just how handy their dad is!


Project #2 (and of less importance than the 1st): I bought fabric to make the girls valentine outfits. I'm super excited about the colors: reds,pinks,teals,and browns. I'm planning to make tiered skirts and then take the remaining fabric and cut out the letters L-O-V-E to sew on to white shirts. Should be so cute-especially since the fabric cost me as much as 1 skirt at Gymboree! And I know I will have enough to make 2 skirts, shirts, and fabric flowers! With leftovers for other valentine projects I have worked up!


Project #3: I'm on a felt kick. After making my felt heart wreath and balls I went and bought some more felt to make a heart banner. I have all my hearts cut out, now to just pull the sewing machine out and finish it all up!


Project #4: Will not be announced right now because it is so cute it will make you fall out of your chair! All I will tell you is it involves more felt!! And Valentine's Day!! And our whole family doing something nice for each other everyday until V-Day!! So it must be completed before Feb. 1st.

Project #5: I started this Valentine Advent 2 years ago...yes, 2 years ago. It has sat in this same bag for 2 years. I vow to finish it this year! Especially since I used 1 of my 2 muffin pans to make this project and I think about it everytime I need 2 muffin pans!


Project #6: My neighbor put this couch out on trash day (GASP!?). I knew with a little love and care it would be the perfect prop couch for photography. Now I just need to pick my new fabric....and learn how to reupholster!


Project #7: I signed up to take a Photo Editing class through the community college! I'm so excited about it and everything I will learn. Everything I've learned up until now has been self taught so it will be so beneficial to learn from someone who knows what they are talking about. My class is one night a week, the majority of it is online, and I start next week. I will have to take atleast 1 week off when the baby is born but since the class is only once a week for 2 hours, I think I can handle picking back up after the baby is born. It's in the evenings too so Chris will be home. If this class proves to be beneficial I will definitely plan on taking another class in the fall!

I think we have enough to keep us busy for the next couple of weeks. Add to it buying little sister a dresser, organizing and cleaning newborn clothes, cleaning up the newborn carseat, AND switching Addysen to a big girl bed we definitely have our hands full!

What happens after Valentine's Day you ask? The search for 3 (!!?!??!) Easter dresses! Heaven help me!

Worst Day Ever!

There are no buses at Elodie's school so I take her every morning and pick her up every afternoon. Some mornings she is full of things to say. I think she may know that it's her last chance to get it all out before school starts so her mind is just spinning with things she must tell me! Other mornings she is reserved and quiet and keeps to herself. Those are usually the end of the week mornings when she likes to lay her head back and relax.

Afternoons are exactly the same.

And if your kids are like my kids the answers are very much the same...

"Good", "Fine", "Yeah"....

But come family pray at 7pm a switch is turned and every detail of the day comes tumbling out!

Last night, as we were kneeling for pray, Elodie exclaims "I had the WORST DAY EVER!"

Which was news to me seeing as when I picked her up and asked her how her day was she said "Fine."

We then asked her...
"Oh yeah? What happened that made it your worst day ever"

Elodie: (very dramatically) "WELL, first Mia hit me on the head with her ruler! (On accident)and THEN someone took my seat during circle time! And THEN I wanted to sharpen all my pencils during recess and when I pulled them out, I only had ONE! ONE PENCIL!"

It's hard to know whether to take her seriously or laugh...

Hello 3rd trimester...

I had another appointment today.

Glucose Test- Check.
Rogame Shot- Check.
Blood Work- Check.

I'll be 30 weeks on Friday. 10 short weeks left. Seriously, when I was throwing up and couldn't lift my head off a pillow I never thought this day would come. And of course everything goes by fast in retrospect....doesn't mean I want to re-experience any of it again. Sorry. Ain't happening!

The baby looks good. I look good. Atleast from a pregnant body point of view. I FEEL like this baby has been rolled into a perfect little ball and shoved right under my ribs. Ugh....and it will just get worse. Thank you for reminding me Doc!

Still no name. We have a few we toss around but nothing that says "THAT'S IT!"
I'm sure we won't leave the hospital without a name but when I say we had 2 perfect boy names and no girl names picked out, I wasn't kidding. It will come though I'm sure.

We are moving right along....

{Gems}

Elodie- I've had all these on the fridge for way too long- I couldn't toss them without blogging about them first.

Her love notes are the best...


I had to explain this one to her teacher. In case you didn't know Addysen calls her blanket her "tutu" and the tag on her tutu is called "peepee". It's been like that from the very beginning and she still gets giddy when she finds it. Too funny. Except in church...

Letter to Santa:

"Dear Santa, How is your wife Mrs. Claus. And are your reindeer fed? I love you so much! You are very wonderful! I would really really like Rapunzel's Tower. Sincerely, Elodie"

(She did not get Rapunzel's Tower but she did get the Rapunzel Barbie. We had to explain to Elodie that her bike Santa was bringing was too big to hold anything else! She was fine with that.)

And a story about Spiders. We did have to have a talk and explain to her that some Spiders are not awesome and are very harmful!



Addysen-

-We were in JoAnn's this morning (the 3rd time this week because of my valentine craft adventure). The girl at the register had BRIGHT pink hair and a few piercings in her mouth and nose. When it was our turn to checkout, Addysen looked right at the girl and said "You have Strawberry Shortcake hair! You Do!" And then she kept asking me "what's on her face?" until we left the store.

-This morning Addysen wanted a fruit snack right after breakfast. I told her no and then said I was going to get in the shower. She looked up at me and said "When your in the shower, I get a fruit snack!" I may have to move our fruit snack stash!

-Yesterday morning she wanted a piece of candy with her breakfast. I told her we don't eat candy with breakfast but she could have a piece after lunch. She then said "Feed me lunch!"

She is getting too smart for us and it won't be long we won't be able to get anything passed her! Just like we are long passed spelling out things in front of Elodie. Given a few minutes she has us figured out!

I love Valentine's Day....

I think it's the colors...reds and pinks make me happy.

Or maybe it's the cute outfits I can dress my girls in...

OR MAYBE it's all the cute cards and goodies Elodie gets to hand out at school.

Doesn't matter, it's such a fun holiday.

And before anyone thinks I'm all on the ball again, I bought all the fabric to make this craft LAST YEAR. Unfortunately by the time I wanted to get started on it everyone was sold out of the styrofoam hearts. Bummer.

And in case your interested in making one of your own. I got the idea here. As for the cute little balls, I had extra felt handy and empty candle holders. I was going to buy valentine candles but these are so much cuter!

*I bought a yard of red felt and had to go back to get another half yard to finish the ball. I also bought a half yard of the pink felt. It took me like 3 days to cut out all the circles. I only did it during nap time and after the girls bedtime so it was hit and miss all 3 days.*

New Year 2011

And in perfect timing, it's my 1000th post!

I can't say 2010 was an AMAZING year. We've had our fair share of trials balanced out with tender mercies. Not every prayer was answered but we stayed healthy and for that we can be grateful! We are anxiously awaiting what Heavenly Father has in store for us in 2011. I may be holding my breath just a little but in all it's exciting!
