2 for 1
I printed out our summer list and stuck it on our pantry door. It's helped keeping it out in the open for me to track our progress. We are doing good so far and last night checked off 2 more things.
I called Melissa up and asked her if her family wanted to join us for a water balloon toss and root beer floats for family home evening. So we planned it for last night and it was tons of fun.
Filling all the water balloons wasn't fun...If I would have given myself more time to get them all filled it wouldn't have been bad. But I didn't start until 5pm and we were meeting at 6:30pm.
When we talked about the activity we discussed different ways to do the toss and who would be paired up with who. Little did we know that as soon as the balloons came out, chaos would begin! We were a little bummed that we didn't stop the kids and play a game of toss but all the running around and chasing was a lot of fun! Even if it only lasted 5 minutes!

Lately...
-She says "sunscream" for sunscreen. I don't dare correct her.
-She is slowly forgetting about her tutus. We don't remind her but it hurts my heart at night when I see her tutus laying on the couch after bedtime.
-She FINALLY has stopped crying when I do her hair every day.
-She is close to being able to shower without help. I have to go in at the end to make sure she gets all the conditioner out of her hair. But other than that she is pretty independent.
-She wants to take a dance class and we plan to sign her up for soccer in the fall.
-She loves to swim.
-She is ready for preschool and I can't believe she is a year from going to Kindergarten.

Summer List 2012: Sonic Happy Hour
It seems kinda silly that I added going to Sonic to our Summer To Do List. Similar to putting "Eating" on our list. We hit Sonic Happy Hour atleast 3 times a week so it never really needed to be put on the list! However, today needs to be documented!
Evyn Kate got her very own slushy today. Did you know Sonic charges you the same amount for a unflavored slush as they do for the flavored ones.
Evyn didn't care that her slush was unflavored. She wrapped her little hands around that cup and didn't let go.
This has been a problem in the past. Any time the girls would try and share with Evyn she would put the death grip on their cup and neither of them could get her to release the cup! And if they did manage to get it out of her hands we had to hear the wrath of Evyn all the way home.
Problem Solved! EK is so content to sit in the back with her plain slush. Until, of course, the day she figures out that her's doesn't have any flavoring.

Crafting Fun.
A few weeks ago Addysen brought home a pair of paper glasses she had made in her primary class. The girls played with those glasses for days. Today Elodie decided she wanted her own pair and Addysen quickly followed deciding she needed a fancier pair than she already had.
The girls spent atleast a hour working on an decorating their new glasses. Elodie loved her's so much she wanted to wear them to the library (hence the backpack she is wearing) and to Wal Mart afterwards.
I love spontaneous craft time. They usually work out so much better than well planned out ones.

Father's Day 2012
I think we did a great job of making Chris feel special on Father's Day. He got a manly breakfast of breakfast burritos, and after church the girls were so excited to give him his gifts. We drug it out as long as we could- making him take pictures with his eyes closed.
And he was so happy with his gifts. A new polo, a Costco sized bag of m&m's, and new toothbrush heads for his sonicare toothbrush.
We love this guy. He is our favorite and our best and we hope we make him feel this special all the time.

Summer List 2012: Paint Elodie's Room
After Addysen's room we moved right on to Elodie's room. Her room required very little prep work and we were able to tape and paint all in one night. She chose a bright blue color that I was a little worried about. I thought maybe it would make the room look really small but it turned out amazing. Such a beautiful color and with all the white furniture she has, it's a really pretty contrast. She is so excited about it and again it will be so fun to decorate....later. Much. Much. Much later!

A Cooking Show
Afternoons at our house are quiet time. If Addysen chooses not to take a nap then she and Elodie both have to find something quiet to do.
My rules for quiet time are simple.
1. It has to be quiet (duh)
2. It can't involve me.
Period.
Yesterday afternoon the girls decided to put on a cooking show in the kitchen. Normally I would have said no because it wasn't exactly going to be a quiet activity but they were so excited about it I couldn't tell them no.
